CiteClarity Terms of Service

Effective Date: October 26, 2026Last Updated: October 26, 2026

citeclarity.co | English

These Terms govern your access to https://citeclarity.co and its research services. By affirmatively accepting these Terms when required, you agree to them. The Privacy Policy explains information handling and is not a blanket consent. The Subscription Terms and Refund Policy form part of paid transactions. Mandatory law prevails; a signed institutional order controls its expressly negotiated commercial provisions, then the specific Subscription Terms or Refund Policy govern their subject matter, and these Terms govern the rest.

2 Eligibility and account security

You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter into this agreement. If using the service for an organization, you must have authority to bind it. Provide accurate account and billing information, keep credentials confidential, and notify [email protected] of unauthorized access. Each account or paid seat is for its assigned user unless the plan expressly allows otherwise. You remain responsible for authorized activity under your account, without assuming liability that applicable law assigns to us.

3 Research services and limits

Features may include literature discovery, AI-assisted answers, citation context, collections and reference checks, as shown in your plan. Dataset coverage, indexing delays, model limitations and access permissions affect results. Citation categories describe how a later work uses a cited statement; they are not a finding that a paper is true, false, reproducible or scientifically valid. Absence from results does not establish absence of relevant research. A subscription does not provide publisher subscriptions, unrestricted full-text access, or rights to bypass paywalls.

4 Verification and professional judgment

AI outputs may contain fabricated or inaccurate citations, omissions, bias or outdated information. Verify material claims, identifiers, quotations, retractions and source passages against originals before relying on them. You are responsible for research design, academic integrity and required AI-use disclosure. The service does not replace peer review or medical, legal, financial or other professional advice, and must not be the sole basis for clinical, regulatory or safety-critical decisions. No publication, acceptance or research outcome is guaranteed.

5 Your content and limited permission

You retain rights in queries, notes, collections and submitted documents that you own. You grant us a nonexclusive, limited license to host, process, transmit and display that content only to provide, secure and support the service and any sharing you choose. This license ends when the content is deleted, except for restricted backups and legal retention described in the Privacy Policy. We do not acquire ownership of unpublished research and do not obtain a general right to publish or train on your private content. You must have all rights and permissions required to submit content, including participant consent and institutional approval where applicable.

6 Outputs and third party rights

Subject to payment and these Terms, you may use generated outputs for your research and lawful work. To the extent we hold transferable rights in an output, we assign them to you; this does not guarantee copyright eligibility, exclusivity or noninfringement. Similar outputs may be provided to others. Publisher text, abstracts, metadata and third-party works remain subject to their owners’ rights and licenses. Preserve required attribution and consult original licenses before redistribution or commercial reuse.

7 Acceptable use

Do not submit unlawful or infringing content, expose personal or confidential data without authority, compromise security, distribute malware, impersonate others or misrepresent sources. Do not scrape or bulk extract data, evade rate limits or paywalls, share credentials, resell access, or reverse engineer protected systems except to the extent a nonwaivable law permits it. Do not use outputs to fabricate evidence or citations. Automated or high-volume access requires an expressly authorized arrangement; no API or integration entitlement is implied by a web subscription.

8 Plans and payments

Paid features, limits, billing period, price, taxes and renewal terms are disclosed before purchase. Subscription Terms govern automatic renewal, trials, cancellation and plan changes. Refund Policy governs contractual refunds without limiting statutory remedies. We do not charge a new paid period without the authorization and disclosures required by law. A change to these Terms does not retroactively alter the price of an already paid period.

9 Institutions and workspace access

Workspace administrators may manage seats and access according to disclosed controls and their organization’s agreement. Before joining, check how the institution controls work products, retention and account access. Personal billing cancellation does not cancel an institutional order. Separate negotiated data processing, confidentiality or service-level terms apply only if agreed in writing.

10 Service changes and enforcement

We may maintain, update or change features with reasonable notice of material reductions to paid functionality. For an unresolved material reduction or discontinuance not caused by your breach, you may terminate and receive a proportionate refund for the affected prepaid unused period, without limiting mandatory remedies. We may restrict access proportionately for serious breach, security risk, fraud, legal requirements or nonpayment. We give reasons and an opportunity to remedy or appeal where feasible; urgent protection may require immediate action. Contact [email protected] to appeal.

11 Termination and intellectual property complaints

You may stop using the service or request account deletion. Export needed research before deletion; subscription cancellation and account deletion have different effects as explained in the Subscription Terms. Send a copyright complaint to [email protected] identifying the work, disputed material and its location, your contact details, authority and a good-faith explanation. We may remove disputed material and seek clarification or a response under applicable law; our support address is not represented as a registered statutory agent unless separately designated.

12 Disclaimers and liability

To the extent permitted by law, the service is supplied as available without a promise of uninterrupted operation, exhaustive coverage or error-free AI results. Nothing excludes liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence where nonexcludable, death or personal injury caused by negligence, data-protection liability that cannot be limited, or nonwaivable consumer rights. Subject to those exceptions, our aggregate liability arising from the service is limited to the greater of fees you paid for it in the preceding 12 months or USD 100; indirect losses are excluded only to the extent lawful. These limitations do not reduce express refund obligations. If local law makes a limitation invalid, the lawful standard applies.

13 Law disputes and language

These Terms are governed by the local laws of your habitual residence, including the mandatory protections available under those laws. Disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms may be brought before the competent local courts of your habitual residence, without limiting any other jurisdictional rights available to consumers under applicable law. Contact us first to seek an informal resolution, without delaying limitation periods or access to urgent relief. These Terms do not impose mandatory arbitration or a class-action waiver. English and Chinese versions are intended to be equivalent; neither overrides mandatory local-language rights. Conflicts will be resolved consistently with applicable law.

14 Updates and contact

We notify material changes through email or the service at least 30 days before they apply, unless a shorter period is necessary for law or urgent security. Where required, we obtain renewed agreement. If you reject a material adverse change, you may cancel before it takes effect and retain mandatory remedies. Invalid provisions are severed only as legally permitted; no failure to enforce is a waiver. Contact: [email protected]
