Subscription Terms

Effective Date: October 26, 2026Last Updated: October 26, 2026

1 Scope and checkout information

Before you authorize payment, checkout must show the selected features and limits, currency, total price and applicable taxes, monthly or annual period, any trial conversion, whether renewal is automatic, the renewal price or calculation, billing date and cancellation method. No illustrative website price supersedes the price you expressly accept at checkout.

2 Billing and payment authorization

Monthly plans are charged in advance for each monthly period. Annual plans are charged in advance for a full year, not month by month merely because a monthly equivalent is displayed. Calendar anchor rules, any prorated first period and payment-provider timing must be displayed before purchase. You authorize the disclosed charge and only those recurring charges separately agreed. We send a confirmation or receipt identifying the plan, period, amount and cancellation route. Currency conversion and bank fees charged independently by your provider are outside our control.

If clearly offered and you separately consent, your subscription renews for the same billing period until canceled. Automatic renewal must not rely on a preselected consent box or be hidden in general terms. You can retain the checkout confirmation. Where automatic renewal is not accepted, the plan expires at the end of the purchased period unless you make a new purchase. Any legally required renewal, trial or annual reminders are sent in the required form and timeframe. We send an additional reminder at least 3 days before a scheduled paid renewal or trial conversion where the agreed period permits; shorter periods receive notice at enrollment and as required by law.

4 Free trials and promotions

A trial exists only if expressly offered. Its length, included features, whether a payment method is required, exact end date, subsequent price and cancellation cutoff are disclosed at enrollment. A trial converts to paid only after the required express authorization; otherwise it ends without a charge. Cancel before the displayed conversion time to avoid payment. We do not assume a standard 7-day trial. Promotions apply only for their stated period and eligibility; the ordinary renewal amount is shown before acceptance. No card verification hold may be described as an earned subscription charge.

5 Cancellation without unnecessary steps

Cancel through Account → Billing → Manage subscription → Cancel subscription, or an equally clear route displayed in your account. Cancellation must be online and no more difficult than signup where law requires. If self-service fails or is unavailable, email [email protected]; a verifiable request received before the next charge is effective for stopping that charge even if support processes it later. We confirm the cancellation and paid-access end date. There is no requirement to telephone, provide a reason or accept a retention offer. Paid access normally continues to period end; cancellation does not automatically refund the current period.

6 Account deletion and saved research

Deleting an app, logging out, stopping use or removing a card does not cancel a subscription. When you delete your CiteClarity account through a verified deletion process, we also stop renewal for directly billed subscriptions tied to that account; deletion may end access immediately and does not itself create a refund. An institutional or expressly third-party billed subscription may require the administrator or seller to act, and we will identify that limitation before deletion. Export needed data first. Downgrading may remove paid features or editing capacity; data retention is governed by the Privacy Policy, not by an unlimited-storage promise.

7 Upgrades downgrades and seats

Before an upgrade, we show its effective date, extra charge, proration or credit and the next renewal amount, and obtain your approval. A downgrade normally takes effect at the next renewal without a mid-period refund, unless otherwise disclosed or required by law. Team seat additions, removals and minimum commitments are governed by the accepted order; no chargeable seat is added silently. A plan change does not restart first-purchase refund eligibility. Features, fair-use rules and quotas are shown in the plan; credits have no cash value and roll over only if expressly stated.

8 Price and material plan changes

A price increase or material adverse change to paid-plan terms applies no earlier than a future renewal after at least 30 days’ clear notice, or longer if law requires. The notice states the new price and date and a direct cancellation method. We obtain new affirmative consent where required; if the required consent is not obtained, we do not apply the increase and may allow the plan to expire at period end. The already paid period is not repriced. A material loss of paid service is handled under the Refund Policy and applicable law.

9 Failed payments and billing errors

If a payment fails, we notify you and may retry as permitted by your authorization and payment rules, without imposing undisclosed retry fees. We may restrict paid features after reasonable notice where feasible. We do not continue charging new periods after effective cancellation or create a new renewal authorization by retrying an old transaction. Report disputed charges promptly to [email protected]; legal reporting periods and payment-provider rights remain unaffected.

10 Refund rights and service limitations

The Refund Policy provides a 14-day full-refund guarantee for the first paid charge, an unused unintended-renewal remedy requested within 7 days, correction of billing errors, and statutory remedies. Approved full refunds terminate the refunded entitlement and stop associated renewal. Subscription fees pay for the disclosed platform access, not a guaranteed academic outcome, exhaustive search result, accurate AI answer or publisher full-text license. These limitations do not excuse a service that fails to meet its agreed description or mandatory quality standards.

11 Institutional orders and contact

An expressly signed institutional agreement may set seat commitments, invoicing, taxes, renewal notice or cancellation arrangements for that organization. Any fixed-term nonrenewing purchase must be identified as such before acceptance. Mandatory consumer law still applies where relevant. For billing, cancellation or a copy of your agreed terms, contact [email protected].
